Response to the Nov 4th Game @ Houston

For Election Night 2008, the Celtics star forward Kevin Garnett wore shoes reading "Embrace Change: Vote '08". Election night was a special night for many of these players that have been outspoken regarding the election.

The Celtics had a overall strong showing both on the offensive ande defensive sides of the ball. The "Big Three" consisting of Paul Pierce (13 points, 9 rebounds), Kevin Garnett (14 pts, 11 reb), and the offensive star of the night (29 pts, 5 reb, 5 assists) all had their consistenly solid games.

Possibly the most impressive showing, though, was the unsung preformance from Kendrick Perkins. Perkins recorded 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 blocks. He was also the main force in keeping Yao Ming, the tallest player in the NBA, to only 8 points in the game. This is more than 10 points less than his season average. Perkins defense was key in the Celtics win against a good team from the very tough Western Conference.

This win gives the C's a 3-1 record. This is going to be a long interesting season. 4 games down, 78 to go.

Allen, Garnett come up big for Celts while Rockets' Yao, Artest struggle in loss

The Celtics played two games this week, one against the Rockets in Houston, and one at the Oklahoma City Thunder, the team that used to be the Seattle SuperSonics but transferred to Oklahoma City.

On election night 2008, Ray Allen was clearly the key player in this game for the Celtics, scoring 29 points of the teams 103 total. Allen also added 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Kevin Garnett posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Kendrick Perkins had a solid game defending 7'5'' center Yao Ming, holding him to a sub-par 8 points.

The Celtics ended up shooting 52% from the field which is respectable, however, some stats of possible concern is the unusually high number of turnovers that the Celtics gave up (17). Also, they shot only an average 75% from the free throw line.
